Using Command line download accelerator

  • wget – Resume downloads, limit the speed and logging

To start wget in background with 20k speed limit & logging in home directory.

wget -b -c http://some.server.com/file –limit-rate=20K -o $HOME/log.txt

  • Using AXEL

$ axel http://download.com/file.tar.gz

  • Limit speed

$ axel -s 5242880 http://download.com/my.iso

  • Limit a number of connection

$ axel -n 3 -s 5242880 http://download.com/my.iso

  • Using Prozilla

$ proz http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.17.11.tar.bz2
